Album review: Linkin Park

LINKIN PARKSounds From The Underground **Warners WPCR 13468, £10.99

Having sold over 50 million albums in a career spanning the past decade, the Californians have scraped together little more than a half hour of rarities to justify this release. The highlight is a cover version of Temple of the Dog's Hunger Strike sung by Chris Cornell, with the band's Chester Bennington yelping in the background. He does not bear favourable comparison with the former Soundgarden front man. The opening instrumental Announcement Service Public promises much that is never delivered; Qwerty is mildly entertaining for death metal pastiche; but My December is just dismal.
