Synthpop geeks, head to the ABC in Glasgow on Tuesday, where Claudia Brucken of cult 1980s bands Act and Propaganda will be showcasing her current project The Lost Are Found, on which she covers lesser known songs by big names (from Bowie to the Bee Gees) as well as songs by underrated bands like the Lilac Time.

Bo’ness Hippodrome

Building on the success of 2013’s centenary year, Bo’ness’s Hippodrome has expanded its silent cinema festival to five days this year, opening with The Artist and continuing with favourites by Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy et al. It runs Wednesday until Sunday.

If you missed Stewart Laing’s extraordinary, immersive show The Salon Project back in 2001, catch it this week at the Citizens Theatre, as an audience gets to dress up in fabulous aristocratic costumes, then is dressed down by a provocative, and perhaps life-changing, show about power, decadence and privilege.

Techno night Jackhammer rolls out the crimson shagpile for a trio inextricably linked with Detroit techno’s golden era. But, far from the doosh-doosh-bang-bang you might fear from a night named after a roadworks staple, Derrick May, Rolando and Stephen Brown can mix the rough with the smooth, as our recommended listening list below can attest to.

Documentary photographer Edith Tudor-Hart is the subject of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery’s new show, until 26 May, an evocative collection of black and white images of ordinary British and Austrian lives.

A bank heist goes wrong. A young man is found with a gunshot wound. He just happens to be the son of notorious criminal Jacob Sternwood (Mark Strong) and if anything is going to flush him out of hiding and back to Britain it is a critically ill son. Detective Max Lewinsky (James McAvoy) is determined to put Sternwood behind bars and grows increasingly obsessive and reckless in his pursuit of justice. A slick, guns blazing cat-and-mouse thriller with an amazing cast of top British talent.

Irish comic Dylan Moran headlines this fundraiser for Glasgow’s Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, with further special guests Karen Dunbar, Des McLean, Fred MacAulay, Bruce Morton, Des Clarke, Michelle McManus and more.

One of the leading violinists of her generation, Benedetti returns with an exciting new recital programme featuring a selection of music from her chart-topping album The Silver Violin. She is joined by her regular collaborators Leonard Elschenbroich (cello) and Alexei Grynyuk (piano) to perform the formidable Tchaikovsky Piano Trio.

The Global Energy Inverness Half Marathon starts alongside the banks of the River Ness near the centre of Inverness, and then follows the river, running beneath the dramatic outline of Inverness Castle. A warm welcome finally awaits all runners as they approach the finish line on entering the city’s Queen’s Park Stadium. Even if you’re not participating it’s still a fun day out.
