A 50-year-old man committed for trial accused of murdering mum and daughter in Dundee

50-year-old Andrew Innes has been fully committed for trial following alleged murder of a 25-year-old mum and her two-year-old daughter in Dundee.

The two bodies recovered from a house in Troon Avenue, Dundee on Thursday March 18 have now been formally identified as Bennylyn Burke, 25, and her daughter Jellica, 2.

Police had been searching the house following the disappearance of Bennylyn and two children in Gloucestershire on March 1.

Police Scotland said Bennylyn and Jellica's family have been updated and are now being supported by police family liaison officers.

The second child reported missing has been traced and is being supported, Police Scotland announced.

On Monday, March 8, a 50-year-old man appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court charged with the murders of Bennylyn and Jellica.

Andrew Innes has now been fully committed for trial charged with murdering Ms Burke with a hammer and her daughter 'by means unknown' to prosecutors.
