However, cross-border competition takes a back seat for the next few days at least as the SPFL returns tonight with Dunfermline hosting Hearts and then a full domestic card throughout the weekend.
Then it’s back into the old routine of UEFA competition in midweek and Rangers may not be facing some of the Benfica stars who salvaged a draw in Portugal earlier this month.
That follows their journeys for international duty and there could be another star striker out of this weekend’s fixtures elsewhere in Scotland.
Celtic on the other hand may be lifted for tomorrow’s match with Hibs. Moi Elyounoussi and Kristoffer Ajer can play after Norway’s covid chaos in the Nations League break, and a Hoops defender has handed Neil Lennon a boost.
Typically though, it wouldn’t be a rumour mill without some Alfredo Morelos transfer activity and there’s developments abroad which could have a domino effect on the Colombian’s time in Scotland with the new transfer window on the horizon in January.
And he’s not the only Rangers man in focus, or Celtic player for that matter, as another Old Firm player impressed on international duty and could have a line of suitors taking an interest in his future movements.
It’s all here, among the websites and backpages, of the rumour mill for Friday, November 20, 2020.
