ARBROATH have failed in a bid to bring former Hibs, Celtic and Scotland player Derek Riordan to Gayfield to replace Steven Milne, who is joining the police next week.
Riordan, who has been without a club for nearly a year after leaving Bristol Rovers, has been training with Alloa recently in a bid to get ready to re-launch his career.
Red Lichties manager Paul Sheerin contacted Riordan to see if he would be interested in joining Arbroath but the 30-year-old striker turned down the offer.
Sheerin said: “I got in touch with Derek, however he would rather take his chances elsewhere.”
