Under his embittered rhetoric, Alan Hinnrichs (Letters, 28 September) did not make a convincing case that a campaign against Sunday sailings amounts to a call to “return to the dark ages”.
Is a return to an age when families enjoyed a common day of leisure time really so sinister?
Keeping a shared day relatively free of work commitments obviously needs a degree of co-ordination, where individuals recognise that conforming to the pattern benefits society overall.
