Angela Merkel has gone into quarantine after being informed that a doctor she had come into contact with has tested positive for the coronavirus.
A spokesperson said the German Chancellor had received a precautionary vaccine against pneumococcal infection on Friday (20th March) but was later informed about the doctor's positive test result.
The Spokesperson added in a statement that Ms Merkel, 65, would undergo "regular tests" in the coming days and continue with her work from home for the time being.
