Quad biker hit taxi while trying to flee from police
Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday heard Scott Inglis, 22, panicked when he saw a patrol van in Gilmerton Dykes Drive and drove off, swerving in front of traffic.
He lost control of his vehicle and veered into the path of a taxi. The taxi driver was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with a neck injury and his passengers were also hurt.

Hide AdInglis was also driving without insurance and with only a provisional licence. He was taken to hospital with a major leg injury which, the court heard, he still receives treatment for.
Defence agent Jim Grant said Inglis, a painter and decorator, had panicked because there was a warrant out for him for driving a motorcycle without insurance and a licence.
Sheriff Frank Crowe banned Inglis from driving for a year and fined him 200. He must also sit the full test before he can drive again.
