'I wasn't too happy' - Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes criticises Celtic defender as he gives injury update

In the second half of the Scottish Premiership encounter at Pittodrie on Sunday, which ended 3-3, Duffy barged the Dons striker as they chased a ball. It resulted in Edmondson falling into the pitch-side wall.

The dazed forward was covered in gravel and required to be replaced by Sam Cosgrove before the hour with fears he would miss Sunday’s Hampden Park showdown between the two sides due to concussion protocols.

However, Edmonson, on loan from Leeds United, is set to be involved in the match.

"Ryan had to go through the test on Monday, but he's absolutely fine,” McInnes said.

"When I looked back at the challenge, I wasn't too happy with it. He got helped on his way and took a sore one.

"At Pittodrie, like a lot of grounds, there isn't a lot of room between the pitch and walls where the supporters are.

"When you are going at full speed it can be a bit treacherous. Thankfully, he's OK and seems fine.

"I wasn't aware of the challenge at the time. There was miscommunication, we thought he was OK and was going to carry on.”

Cosgrove presence

There was mixed news elsewhere. Midfielder Dylan McGeouch faces a spell on the sidelines after being substituted within the first 30 minutes of the Celtic match with a groin injury.

However, Sam Cosgrove will be involved after having a positive impact off the match against Neil Lennon’s men.

"Dylan is the one who will miss out,” McInnes said. “He got a scan that showed a tear on his groin and that will keep him out for up to eight weeks.

"That's a real blow because I have been pleased with Dylan. I'm disappointed for him.

"Sam Cosgrove won't be perfect but, if he's needed to start, yes. He couldn't play 90 minutes, but you saw his contribution on Sunday. He gave the players a lift when he came on.

"He's been a talisman for us and he certainly made his presence felt."
