Chart stars One Direction have amassed so much cash they have soared into an under-30s British rich list – displacing Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint.
The quintet – 1D to their legions of teenage fans – are listed at number five in celebrity magazine Heat’s annual Rich List, with a combined wealth of £26.33 million, while Grint, who held the spot last year, is down to seven.
However, another Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe, continues to dominate the chart for a further year with his £53.33m fortune.
The list, based on estimates of their financial dealings, sees British Twilight actor Robert Pattinson move up to number two with £38.73m, pushing Keira Knightley into third with £32.7m.
Singer Adele has had a massive rise – up ten places – and is said to be worth £26.06m. She and One Direction have become worldwide stars and even conquered the United States.
Girls Aloud are estimated to be the biggest-earning group under 30 with a combined £35.16m. However, they have been listed individually because of their individual careers.
Heat editor Lucie Cave said One Direction, created by pop mogul Simon Cowell on The X Factor, could move up the list in future years, should their popularity continue.
She said: One Direction will be thrilled to hear that they’ve burst into Heat’s Rich List as the highest new entry. They’ll be after the number-one spot, of course, but if they keep going the way they have been, that might be a reality in 2013.
“In these financially tough times, it’s good to know that at least somebody is rolling around on carpets woven from gold-plated £50 notes – which is why Heat is delighted to reveal our annual countdown of the richest British celebs under the age of 30.”
