The Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band has won the World Pipe Band Championships for the third time in a row.

The band, from Lisburn, in Northern Ireland, were crowned winners as the annual event, known as the Worlds, drew to a close.

A total of 225 bands competed at the event, held on Glasgow Green, which has been associated with the city for more than six decades.

Festivities began on Friday afternoon when bands from 17 countries – as far afield as Canada, Mexico and Zimbabwe – marched through the city centre, stopping to play for crowds of shoppers and tourists. It
followed a week of events
and performances that took place under the banner “Piping Live!”

This was the first time the event was held over two days.

The Worlds marks the end of the festival.
