Watch the trailer for World War Z, the Hollywood film shot in Glasgow

Waiting for Video...

A TEASER trailer of a film about a zombie apocalypse partially filmed in Glasgow and starring Brad Pitt has been released.

The trailer for World War Z shows protagonist Gerry Lane (Pitt) in a car stuck in traffic alongside onscreen wife Karen (Mireille Enos) with their two young daughters in the backseat.

All seems normal until a passing motorcycle smashes into the car’s wing mirror without stopping. But, as you’ll see from the trailer, calling Direct Line is pretty much the last thing on their minds after that.

Though the film is set in Philadelphia, Scots will easily identify Glasgow’s George Square in the trailer, with several overhead shots showing people fleeing a mystery threat.

Parts of the city centre were closed to the public for a fortnight last year as filming in the area began. Approximately 1,200 locals were drafted in to play zombie extras.

The film, which is due for a UK release in June next year after delays, is adapted from a novel of the same name by Max Brooks, which was widely-acclaimed for its innovative approach to the zombie genre.
