ACTOR Samuel L Jackson has told how a wayward shot at a celebrity golf tournament in St Andrews struck a spectator, leaving him worried he had caused a serious injury.

The Django Unchained and Pulp Fiction star, speaking to Travel magazine, said that his awkward shot at the 18th flew into the crowd and struck a fan.

Jackson said: “I nearly killed a couple of spectators on live TV.

“I was playing the Old Course and managed to mess up a simple chip on the 18th hole and hit a lady in the crowd.

“She was OK, but it was kinda embarassing - because all my friends in the US saw it.”

Jackson also revealed that Carnoustie is his favourite course, and that he credits the Angus course with improving his game.

He said: “I learned the hard way at Carnoustie. When I first played there I found it so difficult I nearly quit halfway round.”
