FAMILIES will be able to take part in sailing, kayaking and kite making at an event being held in the Lothians this weekend.
Historic Scotland's Active 08 takes place at Linlithgow Palace on Sunday and is being billed as a day of sports, adventure, arts, music and dance.

As a highlight of the day, visitors will be able to watch displays of mountain bike stunts and then test their own cycling skills.

Gillian Urquhart, Historic Scotland assistant events manager, said: "Active 08 should be one of the action-packed family events of the year.

"There will be lots to both try out and watch, whether it be a pursuit of sport, adventure and nature activities or arts projects."
