SCOTS made the most of glorious sunshine yesterday as soaring temperatures were expected to make it the hottest weekend of the year so far.
By early afternoon, the mercury had risen to 25°C in some parts of the country, with most areas enjoying clear blue skies and high temperatures.

Today should be similar, although a touch cooler, especially along the North Sea coastline, but temperatures will still be well above average for the time of year.

Yesterday, Scots were making the most of the weather, with country parks and beaches packed.

Mark Kelly, manager at Gourock outdoor pool in Inverclyde, said: "We opened at 10am this morning and they had been queuing to get in from early on.

"The weather is terrific and hundreds of people are out enjoying themselves."

Tesco has reported a 364 per cent jump in sales of barbecues, a 40 per cent rise in sales of after-sun cream and predict they will sell some 1.2 million burgers across the UK this weekend.

The hot weather will continue today, and marathon organisers in Edinburgh are warning competitors to wear plenty of sunscreen.

Around 17,000 runners are expected to take part in the Albert Bartlett Edinburgh Marathon.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Friday has been the hottest day of the year so far.

"Today should be similar or a touch cooler, especially along the North Sea coastline, but temperatures will still be well above average.

"The weather should cool down this week, with cooler air coming down from the north, but it will still be fine and dry."

That picture of a 'Bikini Girl', Was Not Here when I made my post at #2, where did she come from?
I can only assume, that the Scotsman News, is trying to keep me happy!, but none-the-need, as in this Weather that we are being blessed with, we are also blessed with, all our beautiful Women, that come out in their Summer attire.

With global warming this should be the norm for summers from now on, as well as enjoying my X5 and flights to the USA I am delighted to help deliver better weather for those too poor, or in the case of the global warming alarmists too miserable, to enjoy anything other than sitting in front of their computers pontificating on mythical imminent disasters but now with the sun streaming in the window.

Enjoy it while it lasts, in 2003 and confirmed by Al Bore we were told that Scotland would be an icy wasteland possibly within 7 years due to the demise of the Gulf Stream. As we all know the global warming situation has markedly worsened since then.
I suppose we are all in for a rather sudden change! Maybe not!

I am absolutely appalled at the tenor of this article and the comments above. As a committed environmentalist with high moral standards I refuse to enjoy this balmy climate gained at the expense of my fellow man. I shall spend the day in a shaded church praying for those unfortunate delta and Maldive dwellers suffering the consequences of our uncaring society.
Well, possibly not, think I'll just take myself and the family for a pleasant drive to Dunbar for lunch.

Don't despair #6 we have been assured by Nobel winner Al that the Arctic will be ice free in a couple of years. Take a flight to Vancouver, bask in the warm Gulf Of Alaska sun as you cruise to the North Pole, leave frozen Scotland well behind.

Yesterday the temperature was 5.5 degrees with cloud and heavy rain, hardly "basking in the sun".
