LUIS Felipe Scolari insists he does not fear the sack if Chelsea again fail to win the Champions League this season.
The European Cup is the only trophy Chelsea have not landed since Roman Abramovich took over the club in June 2003 and that failure has proven costly for Scolari's predecessors.
Avram Grant did not last long at Stamford Bridge after Chelsea were beaten on penalties by Manchester United in last year's final. But Scolari said he had not even discussed the Champions League with Abramovich – and he maintained there is no extra pressure from on high to deliver European success this season.
"I don't talk with Roman Abramovich about the Champions League," said Scolari, who makes his management debut in the competition tonight when Chelsea host Bordeaux.
"It is not right to put out the idea that if you don't win then the coach is out."
Chelsea, meanwhile, have appealed against the straight red card given to captain John Terry during Saturday's 3-1 victory at Manchester City.
Terry was sent off in the 77th minute for hauling down Brazilian striker Joe. The FA will consider the appeal today.
