The Democrats' put forth a representative of the corporate aristocracy who is experienced, polished and finished. The Republicans put forth a representative of the corporate aristocracy who is raw and stupid. that is the issue. on everything substantial they agree. Remember, Biden is in bed with some oil companies and sponsored that bankruptcy legislation the big banks wanted a few years ago. Palin is too stupid to even know what's going on.

A few battle-ground states have been identified including Michigan & Ohio. But McCain has pulled out of Michigan. he won't even do tv ads in Michigan any more. He's quitting.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmartin/1008/McCain_pulling_out_of_Michigan.html?showall

Here's an article showing how in reality democrats & republicans are pretty much in agreement with each other.

http://www.chris-floyd.com/component/content/article/3/1619-silent-surge-bipartisan-terror-war-intensifies-in-somalia.html

they scrap over small things and agree on the big things.

Ron Paul explains why it is that he won't vote for McCain-Palin.

http://www.nj.com/starledger/stories/index.ssf?/base/news-0/1222921527225930.xml&coll=1&thispage=1

for most republican voters there is 1 and only 1 reason to vote for McCain. that is because they don't want a democrat to win. If republicans had nominated a candidate who is closer to the people on issues, someone who would bring the troops home and not tax the people for this bailout to rich people, that is someone the republicans could've elected. They chose McCain instead of Paul and so it looks like they'll probably lose on November 4'th.

Mike in #10:

I remind you that Ms. Palin is on John McCain's team. McCain voted 'yes' on the big bailout bill about 2 days ago. That is where the US government is going to borrow $700 billion from banks, then give the money to other banks and then tax the Americans in perpetuity to pay for it. In other words, she's with the corporate aristocracy. end of story.

It would be far cheaper if the government would just set up a bureaucracy to review every single home foreclosure and bail out the homeowner whatever is required to keep them in the house. This strategy could be followed for less than $50 billion a year. and your big banker friends wouldn't have to worry about bad loans to homeowners.

Unfortunately Mike, your banker friends have committed a lot of securities fraud by creating fraudulent derivatives and securities based on the mortgage, then re-sold them mostly to foreigners. and this is why the bailout is to be so extraordinarilly expensive. They're bailing out a lot more than just a few bad loans to homeowners.

Here's 3 links for your study Mike.

there's no real difference between the Democrat & Republican candidates for president. Here's evidence.

This is a story about how both candidates support the war on terror which is fraudulent.

http://www.chris-floyd.com/component/content/article/3/1619-silent-surge-bipartisan-terror-war-intensifies-in-somalia.html

States across the country were beginning to effectively regulate the mortgage lenders. But the Bush administration stopped them from doing this. Republicans had complete control of the government from January of 2001 to January of 2007. Why did they allow these abuses? here's an article on this.

http://www.projectcensored.org/top-stories/articles/25-bushs-real-problem-with-eliot-spitzer/

Congressional Democrat leaders are in bed with George Bush, they both want to tax the Americans heavily and give it to a corporate aristocracy. Obama & McCain both serve the corporate aristocracy.

Can anyone tell us a real difference between the 2 candidates????

This is HIGHLY entertaining - to read in #8's post - purportedly from 'Australia' - that he/she/it takes issue with Mrs. Palin's pronunciation and/or accent ... coming from an AUSTRALIAN ... AN AUSTRALIAN ... well, something about the pot calling the kettle black certainly springs to mind. Mrs. palis seems to be an bright, sharp, articulate woman of many and diverse talents - and the people of Alaska are indeed very fortunate having them work for them. The people of the US can only hope to become as fortunate.

Well I watched it and thought Biden pulled his punches far too much, while Palin stated she would not respond to the questions and kept her word.

He only got into stride in the second half of the debate, and at times she went off like a train on the Tay bridge. He never attacked her credentials, and she decided that the VP needs more power.

The story will be her folksy responses, and Biden being dull. Really good reporters will question her on wanting to make a power grab as VP, average reporters will too, but only the really good ones will get within a hundred miles of her.

I think Biden's strategy was to appear 'dull' and neutralize the debate. He could have easily won the debate but lost the argument. (if that makes sense)

These debates are pretty show-cased and the candidates are much less exposed than people think. Candidates can't ask too difficult questions about their opponent, since their record is also under scrutiny.

Palin to me still looked prepared, but still out of her depth in this debate, but I don't think it will have much effect on the election in either direction.

I thought that Sarah did an exceptional job in the debate, skillfully moving between the appearance of intelligence, while interjecting her characteristic
goofy "hit-in-the-head-with-a-hockey-stick" Tina Fey
impersonation.

While no actual strings or wires were visible, it is perfectly clear that she was entirely operated from Cheney's "safe house," somewhereville, USA.

The flag waving and American self-congratulatory delivery is a decade or two behind reality, I'm afraid to say. But, of course, events are slow to reach the outer-limits of our homeland and perhaps they are all still very much in the nationalist camp in Alaska,
not realizing that, in the lower 48, we have been "sold down the river" by 8 years of Bush-Cheney,
Incorporated.

THAT VOICE OF HERS . . . . . Aggggggggggghhhhhhhhh !
Thank God that there is little chance we will have to listen to her for very much longer. . . . .

The "million dollar hockey mom" tried her best, did a great job under the circumstances, but is obviously only a mouthpiece for the outdated ideology of the US
which has bankrupted our nation, our educational system, our infrastructure and our status in the world.

Palin was a pallid simulacrum of a poised and prepared debater and although she had been rigorously "prepped" for this debate her lack of vision and application were highly evident.

(Quoting from the above)
"Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement, is right around the corner – beginning sundown Oct. 8 this year.

If you thought it only had significance to Jews, a new video documentary on "The Feasts of the Lord" will give you something else to think about.

Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries in Washington state has produced, in conjunction with WND Videos, a compelling and exhaustive teaching series on the biblical feasts as outlined in Leviticus by Moses. The spring and fall feasts, Biltz says, were not intended only for the children of Israel. They are, the Bible says, "the feasts of the Lord" – and they have special meaning with respect to the life, death, resurrection and return of Jesus.

Palin delivered her line competently and used her folksy charm to advantage. It's unfortunate that what passes for debate in the US had no way of truly testing her. Biden appeared dull as expected but the format did him the favour of keeping his answers short.

The only part with any interest was when Palin was desperate to find some distinction between her position on gay marriage and Biden's, but couldn't find any.

It's gratifying to know, there are REAL Americans out there, that are in tune with the rest of the world.

It's fine to be patriotic, but hey, we all live on the same planet, so let's look after it and show some respect.

Palin wouldn't last one week in the Australian political arena. She'd be hounded daily by the media demanding answers, grilled on the ABC about her foreign policy, asked questions on radio stations by listeners, chased by journalists looking for headlines. If you avoid the media, the way she has, you'd be DEAD.

Kelvino - WorldNetDaily should be avoided, I'm sure you get e-mails for opposition research only. Joseph Farrah is no doubt 'under the influence', meaning under the influence of CIA. It is very unfortunate that many christians today wish to make an idol out of the modern state of Israel. The state of Israel should not be confused with the word 'Israel' in the bible. Christians should read the book of Jeremiah that several times (I think probably in chapters 10, 17 &31) it is announced the Old Covenant is broken. Also, christians should read what jesus says as well as Revelation 2:9.

ReadingPublic - I agree with you that all of them who support the bailout should be thrown out.

What I'd like to impress people on is that $700 billion is a lot of money. and there is talk that this will only be a first installment. Read the Solari link I provided above and other links in #11. what they're doing is preparing to cover up a lot of financial fraud. Criminals are running our government and both parties are in support of their schemes.

The problem we're told is a money-supply problem in that with rapid bankruptcies of investment banks & these bankruptcies cascading into other bankruptcies we're told this will cause a retraction of the money supply and bring with it joblesness. We're told we must inject money into the investment banks. But this is a ridiculous lie. There are many ways to beef up the money supply. government itself can create money and use the money to pay its bills and give people a temporary tax respite while the new money is being pumped into the economy.

We're told that we must borrow money from banks that charge interest and then give the money to other banks. And then for many years our people will be taxed to make payments on this loan. It is nothing more than the people being subjugated to give money to a corporate aristocracy.

Why maintain any loyalty whatsoever to any of the elected officials of either party who support this? They have no loyalty to us.
37

Wally,

ReadingPublic,

Palin supports this bailout. Palin supports un-ending wars around the world, whoever our real rulers target, she supports a war against them. Palin supports the department of education dominating our public schools and taking away all opportunity for real choice in education. Palin supports super-high government spending as is evidenced by her alliance with McCain, her propensity to seek money for Alaska or for Wasilla and her support of the bailout. Palin is not a person with a fresh approach. She is a puppet for the people who rule us.

If some people vote for her because she doesn't fit a more conventional profile or because she's female, then I'd say this is pretty pitiful on the citizenry's part who do that.

so what do you think about Barney Frank?

from what I saw, Frank was off on his denying jag about how none of this was any DEMOCRATS fault...

ORielly kept saying that there were plenty of people at fault, on both sides of the aisle...

ORielly kept hammering Frank about how Frank said the Mortgage market was sound in 2005...

then Frank told ORielly he was too stupid to understand that it wasnt HIS fault...

which sent ORielly off on a jag siting dates, committees and legislation that Frank was involved with....

Frank ended up a sputtering MESS...

it was U G L Y....

I think he's LUCKY that he & Orielly were not in the same city... in the words of Jerimiah Wright, I think Bill would have been "ridin dirty"....

bottom line, we need to throw them ALL out... unfortunately scumbags like Frank will be in the house until their corpse rots away to dust... Frank, who if he were in the PRIVATE sector, what he said in 2005 would get him convicted of fraud...

we are STUCK with these guys...

A much more interesting debate than I had expected.

Sarah Palin did a fantastic job. She is not the idiot the media and Barack Obama would have you believe. She is smart, speaks well, and connects with ordinary people-who tend to vote- far better than any other candidate, including Obama.

It is unfortunate that the media has decided to "report" on how Palin stretched the truth (once), but has completely omitted to mention that Biden lied blatantly about fourteen times.

Re the bailout. Obama amd Biden voted for it too. They all support it.

Mike, what do I think of Barney Frank?

Barney Frank is quite a character. I'm amazed that so many people love to ridicule Republicans, for example GC on this forum thinks that evil will be purged from the government when Republicans are removed. there is such a tendency in so many to ridicule Republicans. but democrats are far more likely to support this bailout bill than Republican members of the Senate or House are. A strong majority of Republicans in the House had the decency to vote 'no' on it. Democrat leadership (Frank is a high ranking Senate Democrat) is 100% on Bush's side regarding this bailout. I view all the people of either party who support that bailout as being traitors and I agree with you that they should all be removed.

The story of Barney Frank will entertain many around the world not familiar with him. When he was a congressman about 25 years ago he put an ad in one of those 'adult' magazines where he was advertising for a gay male friend. I believe Frank was openly gay at the time (I may be wrong on that though). A young man about 21 answered the ad and ended up moving into Frank's house. Frank had a room-mate of special significance. But this young man worked as a gay prostitute. Was Frank a customer? I have no idea. The young man recruited teen boys to work with him as a gay prostitute. He was running a gay-oriented escort service from Frank's house.

Somehow this info became public, I think maybe when the police arrested his 'room-mate'. Frank apologized profusely for bad judgement. The people of Massachusetts re-elected him and since then he's become a powerful Senator.

If O'Reilley really wanted to be a journalist, then he'd educate people on the subjects of money and banking and show people how the Federal Reserve is a criminal enterprise. The opponents of the bailout systematically fail to talk about alternatives and positive changes. Therefore, they are fake opponents.

sorry Sandi, I have no link to support my personal opinion that Palin is raw and stupid. But consider that she studied sports journalism in college. I don't think that indicates any intellectual curiosity or drive at all. Compare to Obama who studied law at an ivy league university. Obama didn't just study something difficult & significant, he excelled at it. He had top grades, he became president of Harvard Law Review while in college, he became a college professor teaching law. That indicates intelligence & intellectual drive by comparison to Palin. Palin I see as very shallow, someone who actually believes what Rush Limbaugh says.

She does present a good image though.

But it doesn't matter. If she finds herself in the White House she'll be nothing but a puppet.

ScotLJM in 45/46:

You said that Obama contributed to current 'crisis'. but this wild mortgage lending occurred during the 2001-2007 period when Republicans controlled the federal government completely. and during that time many states tried to regulate the wild mortgage practices. The federal government stopped them from doing this and saw to it that there was no regulation of this industry. I've posted links documenting this. this is why Eliot Spitzer of New York was taken down, he was orchestrating the regulation of these practices and destroyed for it. it was the federal government under bush that targeted him for destruction and destroyed him.

The leaders & members of both parties are working together in support of a criminal enterprise on a large scale. and we argue over the alleged merits of one supporter of criminals or another supporter of criminals.

http://globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=10413

You'd think the Democrats would seize the opportunity and show everyone how the republicans intervened and stopped smart regulation of this industry, but instead they join with Bush and want to tax the people to give the tribute to rich people. The Americans have simply proven unfit to run a free-market economy. We should all develop the clear understanding that the goal of American leadership is not to do so, but to subjugate the nation instead to a criminal mercantile clique that rules the country. 'land of the free home of the brave' is nothing but an empty slogan from times gone by.

the Americans debate foolish stupid points between the Democrats and the Republicans. tweedle-dee tweedle-dum. Meanwhile the real American economy continues to deteriorate. Thanks to the US government fixing policies to bring many immigrants to America very rapidly over a long period of time the domestic US economy must create 150,000 new jobs each and every month just to keep pace with population growth. To do anything less means that the real unemployment rate goes up.

Here is an article with a nice bar-chart on it showing the dismal failure of the American economy to come anywhere close to this standard of 150,000 new jobs each month.

http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/economic-report-payrolls-fall-159000/story.aspx?guid={413F55F5-BFCA-4E68-9F94-9B695466A681}&dist=hplatest

Ever since the summer of 2000, the US economy has failed virtually every month to create new jobs just to keep pace with population growth. The government stopped measuring the unemployment rate in 1993. I remember, I read a big piece in the Wall Street Journal about it. They said it was too expensive to measure unemployment though they'd been doing it ever since around 1870. Since 1993 they only estimate the unemployment rate.

But the real economy is not a concern of the Democrats and the Republicans. They are focused on taxing the people to give the money to rich people. and they say that this will fix the economy. the sad truth is that those who rule America have absolutely no concern at all for the welfare of the Americans. Why the Americans wave their flags and fight in these evil wars around the world is a demonstration of the delusions that can cause people to be destructive.

I'm not a particular fan of Barney Frank, but I AM
entertained by YOUR keen interest in him. . . .

I am WAY LEFT of the Dems, if the truth be known, which sometimes presents itself as my being extremely conservative/libertarian.

Life is a simple stroll through "right" and "wrong" for you, isn't it ? GOOD LUCK !

To (slightly) paraphrase Bill Clinton's attack dog Carvell: "it's not the economy, stupid." The economy is quite fundamentally sound. It's the financial services industry, at whose behest Billy boy rewrote the Glass-Steagall law for his campaign donors, with all those gamblers (both on Wall Street and on Main Street), which has given bought-and-sold politicians like Obama and Biden another opportunity to mis-spend American taxpayers' money.

So, when someone like Palin comes along, who hasn't spent most of her (real) working life inside the Beltway, and doesn't talk their orotund and obscure language and is not beholden to the financial services industry (like Biden with his lobbyist son working for Master Card), and whom ordinary Americans can relate to, politicians and the mainstream liberal media elite (who have rarely criticised Obama's corruption) start frothing at the mouth.

One particular frother is he who a House legislator referred to a few years ago as Barney "Fag": he who ran a male brothel out of his Boston pad, and in that "tolerant"(of evil) Irish town got off with a slap on the wrist; or was it his bottom? One wonders what he is getting up to now with all that power he has that politicians are addicted to.

Palin performed above expectations, but she still looked like a crammer rather than someone who had a full grasp of what she was talking about. That was my perception anyway.

#41 Laurette,

"The most important reason that I am voting for Obama/Biden is my belief in the Constitution"

So how do you feel about Obama's flip-flop on and vote in favor of the FISA bill? The one he said he would filibister if necessary, remember? The one that completely assaults the Constitution.

#54 Richardinho,

Well of course she crammed. She hasn't been in the Senate for, how many years has Biden been there? What she did that he couldn't was speak to people in terms they understand. Biden, whom I quite like, has been in Washington so long he speaks "Washington-ese" and people have had more than enough of that. Palin won the communication points hands down.

Palin is out of her depth - there really should be a political world for women. A place where they can compete with eachother without coming into contact with the real world.

Great that you lot have a Scotsman threid to debate the snoozathon across the pond. The same paper has pulled the plug on the famine song threid.
Seems the Scotsman moderator doesn't want a debate about racist, anti-Irish songs.

87% of the people polled has said Gov. Palin won the debate.. Focus groups have said Gov. Palin won the debate.. and in those focus groups, she has changed the mind of many who were going to vote for Obama to vote for McCain. She did not hurt McCain, and in the coming days the numbers are going to be closer.
One can make fun of her "folksy speak", but she still reaches middle America.

You're a jambo and don't know any better. Really you should though. Surely you don't want to imitate or approve the antics of the Greyskull faithful ?
Besides I wouldn't have intruded on the threid about the comedy across the pond, but the Scotsman moderater lost his bottle re the famine song threid.

after Obama takes office in January his bureaucrats will be handing out that $700 billion in funds to wall street. I guess that means victory for the Democrats.

all the democrat leaders joined with all the republican leaders to stab the Americans in the back.

what was it that Jefferson said about the tree of liberty needing to be watered with the blood of both patriots & tyrants every 30 years or so? but the people who rule us are never in that situation.

Is Barrack Obama a New World Order puppet? Webster Tarpley thinks so. Here's his latest book.

http://www.amazon.com/Barack-H-Obama-Unauthorized-Biography/dp/0930852915/ref%3Dsr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222788606&sr=1-2

Tarpley wrote a famous book on George HW Bush. The fact that Democrat leaders & Republican leaders joined together to pass a bill where the Americans are taxed to pay for cash gifts to big companies among the mercantile clique that rules us is a bad sign.

One Democrat congressman says that behind closed doors they were told that martial law would result if they voted no on the bailout.

We've been hustled by experts, furthering the division between the rich . . . and the rest of us.

The impending collapse of credit is indeed upon us; I know of no one who has been able to obtain credit for any reason within the last week. A conspiracy to hold us all for ransom ? It appears that way !

Both Dems and Repubs are enablers in this scam; "damned if they do, etc. " Who was REALLY willing to call the bluff ?

What a tragedy for our country. . . . sounds just like the old mafia "protection money" that was demanded of local storeowners when I was a kid in Brooklyn !

Same process. . . .but no visible pinstripes !

Domestic financial terrorists ?

Shrooms, I say ! SHROOMS !

Sarah's gotten into the SHROOMS !

Little brown shrooms growing in all that Moose-Poop !

"Say it ain't so, Joe, there you go again pointing backwards again. You preferenced [sic] your whole comment with the Bush administration. Now doggone it, let's look ahead and tell Americans what we have to plan to do for them in the future. You mentioned education, and I'm glad you did. I know education you are passionate about with your wife being a teacher for 30 years, and god bless her. Her reward is in heaven, right? ... My brother, who I think is the best schoolteacher in the year, and here's a shout-out to all those third graders at Gladys Wood Elementary School, you get extra credit for watching the debate."

Anyone follow that rambling ? Stoner City. . . .

Sarah kicked @ss. The "hockey moms" and "Joe six-pack" stuff. The folks in "fear" of the economy at the kids' soccer games.
The thing at the end where she crushed the Beltway big shot with "can I call you Joe."
Pulling the kids on stage and hugging the little one with Downs was the icing on the cake.
She touched all the right hot buttons. Katie Couric - who dat?
Now if she can only control her oil patch redneck hubbie Todd from doing something totally stupid, we may have a race. He does work for BP. Which makes him Gordon Brown's problem, too.
I knew I could work that idiot in here somewhere.

People who are impressed by this Palin woman must be suffering from a psychological disorder.

US voters should have an IQ test before being allowed a vote. That would reduce the electorate to 10% of the population.

"87% of the people polled has said Gov. Palin won the debate"

I think Carolyn has been into the 'Shrooms' as well.

Two instant polls suggested that Palin's appeal failed to resonate.

A CBS News poll found that 46% of uncommitted voters thought Biden had won, with 21% saying Palin had.

A CNN poll found voters declaring Biden the winner by 51% to 39%.

A new Quinnipiac University poll finds Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has opened up a 15-point lead in Pennsylvania over Republican nominee John McCain

Check out the photo of Palin with her stupid wink..

Palin did ok - better than I expected her to. I can understand people thinking she won the debate because she came across as spunky and tenacious. She appealed to people from a personal level.

Nevertheless, I listened to the debate and didn't feel as much substance behind what she said as I got from Biden's comments. Obama picked Biden for his experience, which is a good balance for Obama's not-so-much experience. McCain's chose Palin to round out his ticket in what area - personality?

I just couldn't stand another 8 years of someone who can't pronounce NUCLEAR.

That in itself is sufficient reason to not vote for her.

I agree with you - it bugged the heck out of me over and over in the debate. I must point out, however, that the American Prez is elected for 4 years not 8. It's time for me to move to Scotland if McCain/Palin were to be elected to two terms! ;)
