US vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin is seen being blessed in church by a pastor praying for her protection from "witchcraft" in a video that appeared on YouTube.
The video shows Republican candidate Ms Palin standing before Kenyan bishop Thomas Muthee at the front of the Wasilla Assembly of God church, in Alaska, holding her hands open as he asked Jesus Christ to keep her safe from "every form of witchcraft".

Mr Muthee said, as two attendants placed their hands on Ms Palin's shoulders: "Come on, talk to God about this woman. We declare, save her from Satan.

"Make her way my God. Bring finances her way even for the campaign in the name of Jesus ... Use her to turn this nation the other way around."

The video was made three years ago. Ms Palin filed campaign papers a few months later, in October 2005, and was elected governor the next year.

Ms Palin does not say anything on the video and keeps her head bowed throughout the blessing. She was baptised at the church but stopped attending regularly in 2002.

A spokesman for John McCain's presidential campaign declined to comment.
Ms Palin was baptised Roman Catholic as a baby.

The Wasilla Assembly of God church is pentecostals, and members of this Christian church are conservative in their reading of the Bible.

Unlike most other Christians – including most evangelicals – Pentecostals believe in "baptism in the Holy Spirit".

That can manifest itself through speaking in tongues, modern-day prophecy and faith healing, which includes the laying on of hands.

Maria Comella, a spokeswoman for the McCain-Palin campaign, has said Ms Palin attends different churches and does not consider herself Pentecostal.

On a visit to the church in June this year, Ms Palin spoke fondly of the Kenyan pastor and told a group of young missionaries that Mr Muthee's prayers had helped her to become governor.

She said: "Pastor Muthee was here and he was praying over me, and you know how he speaks and he's so bold.

"And he was praying 'Lord make a way, Lord make a way' ... He said 'Lord make a way and let her do this next step'. And that's exactly what happened."

The Rev Zipporah Ndiritu, who studied under Mr Muthee in the Kenya-based Word of Faith Church, said the bishop is revered among evangelicals there. She said church doctrine focuses on ridding the world of demons and witches.

"Even in the days of Jesus Christ, according to the Bible there were witches who were manifesting through demonic forces," she said. "You can seek from the Lord, and if you find demonic forces you cast them out."

Pretty scary, a bimbo that believes in the spiritual forces to guide her through her life. On a personal level that may be fine, but on a level where you're second in command to lead a nation, nah, it doesn't wash.
Pentecostals are also well known to be 'holy rollers', literally rolling in the aisles of the church and blabbering in so called tongues.
Way to go America, you know how to pick them.
What next, voodoo dolls?

This is far worse than being a `fruitcake`, given the association between African evangelical churches and witchcraft - remember the discovery of the torso of a 5 year old African boy in the Thames a few years back?

Although this article refers to Nigeria - you still get the picture - child murder and abuse dressed up by so-called Christians.as dealing with `witchcraft`.

She's a joke.....Her days are numbered.....
McCain must have been thinking of Monica Lewinsky....
Many American women are now starting to wake up to the fact that she's just a fashionable bimbo with trendy spectacles, a pretentious SP broach, no substance and no qualifications. Fortunately, the dark foreboding nimbus of Sarah Squall, that blew in from Alaska like a dust storm, is giving way to the bright sunny disposition of the moderate and trustworthy Barack Obama as he stands on the horizon like a knight in shining armour ready to obliterate the republicans at the forthcoming election.

This is a complete scam. . . a CON. . . .an attempt to make political points as "non-partisan," while buying time to put together a coherent speech.

NBC was interviewing him and these are the things he said!! Yet Katie Curik (Sp?) didn't admonish him, disn't scream at him, disn't call him a liar, didn't even correct him.

Yet, if this was Sarah Palin, it would be SPREAD across the newspapers, NBC would be talking all day about it, and it would be their lead article on the news of the night!!

The part of the video of Pastor Thomas Murthee laying his hands on Palin is all that has been shown. It is the rest of the video that is so disturbing. He wants the kids in our schools to become "Devil Chasers" to drive out all who are not Christians. He wants only Born Agains in the White House and he wants only Born Agains in Hollywood to drive out the Pornographers that currently defile us (his words). McCain was told to pick this woman over Lieberman and Ridge by Dobson and Focus on the Family, who must have known of her ties to this Pastor. Scary times here!

Let me get my head around this..
Obama is from Kenya. His Chicago church damns America and the looney-left swoons with admiratation. Now a church to which Palin does not belong blesses her with good wishes to be an independent and rightous leader.

Are the left-wing nuts upset because the minister is from Kenya and he's praying for Palin to be govornor of Alaska, or are they upset because he doesn't god-damn America???

How silly and inconsequential you must be in Germany, it's known fact that the 88's must hide your hatred or risk being jailed. Gemany is none too happy with the likes of you in this new dawn of history.

As for history: Our history books are excellent; In fact, our history books record that it was Germany that banned books, burned books and even burned 6 million people, including the writers and scholors with whom they did not agree.
I sincerely hope you are not fortifying such a horrific legacy.

Eh ! Did Palin not ban books only this year ??

America, in the lead up to WW1 banned books , lynched Germans, threw Germans ( WHo made up a very large part of your founding fathers)out of their jobs . This went for the swiss and the Austrians too.

You had "Liberty Steaks", people with German breed dogs were attacked in the streets of the US. The nay sayers warned that you were being dragged into the war by the Arms manufactures (Sound Familiar), you were also terrified into believing that if you did not enter the war , the Germans would be coming to take over the US.

The level of atrocities carried out by your country
TODAY is disgusting and shameful. I live in a country where I can say what I like , without having to stand in a "Free speech Zone" every time my Chancellor comes to town.

VP might not be the preferred position, but from all accounts, the Office of Internal Affairs might be just the place. Karzai would LOVE to spend some more time with her and said that she's "gorgeous!" What more could we ask for in a leader ?

If not. . . .get out the voodoo-dolls and start

And thank you for the 'insult'- I'm very proud of it. There are many women in the world who are proud to be successful in their career, whatever the level of achievement, and raise a family. My daughter's playpen was in my office until she started Montessori school. If I'm that pig with lipstick, etc. it's a honor I don't deserve but will work to deserve.

Delivering the insult does not make you, in any way, a gentleman; because you sir, have no honour.

How many times must it be proven that Palin never banned a book or asked for one to be banned?
It's my opinion, that when Palin is dust in the ground, history will still say she banned books because the lie has now become a 'virtual' truth.

Considering that I'm working on an Anti-Americanism report I should send you the survey.
Do you agree anti-Americanism is rooted back seven decades to the resentment that America put a stop to the German elitism of white supremacy and eugenics,
- that it was ultimnately America who stopped Germany's goal to purify the world of trailer trash?

Reports show Anti-americanism is beieng promulgated for self-interest in Europe by their media, leaders and books, not the facts of history.

This story is garbage!
Personally, I think Palin is incompetent and out of her depth. Her boss is a war mongering nutter and both of them together make up a rather disturbing team. NEVERTHELESS - This story is a nonsense! why should it matter if she was on her knees banishing demons or praying?
If she is religious then so be it! Some people need to believe there is a higher power, others are grown up enough to live without such fantasy, but that doesnt mean that those who do believe should be ridiculed.

Palin has far bigger problems than the ones mentioned in this story. The poor woman is confused!

Sarah Palin gets the job done. I don't care if she uses Voodoo, witchcraft or rubs sticks together to make smoke rings- she has accomlished more on energy in two years than Congress has in 10 years.

This "Anti-Americanism" you are working on should be expanded to include the mistrust that WE AMERICANS feel for our own government. A paranoid world-view only attests to your own myopic thinking on the subject. Our own, home-grown problems are the enemy at present. You are posting on"The Scotsman," remember ? As far as I know, Scotland is not a member of our feeble "empire!"

I would only commend you for your efforts in working hard and raising a family. However, neither your experience, NOR MINE, qualifies us to be elected to a vice-presidential position.

Palin clearly mirrors MANY hard-working, caring women and mothers, but we must NOT confuse this with some projected ability to govern our entire nation, at some point. You may not care for Obama, not think he is prepared for the job, but he is clearly an intelligent,
pragmatic man who hold some promise in setting us on a more productive path. If his race is an issue, I would suggest to you that Jesus also had dark skin
and would be called a "n***ger in our society. Does that sit well with you ?

If you are not a Christian, I would suggest that you are afraid that a black man might give other US blacks
a greater sense of personal power and make us "pay" somehow for generations of racial repression.
There are MANY guilty white folks out there and having a black man running for president is a nightmare for them, my own family included. I frequently hear,"I like Obama, but I could NEVER vote for a n**ger !"
Life in the USA. . . . . . .

If something I have said again offends you, you may be in the very group that is beyond discussion or compromise, the group that we can NEVER allow to
construct our foreign "Bush Doctrine" policies, nor permit the abuse of our capitalistic economy.

You make some very good, logical arguments. Yet, I can agree with very few of your initial premises.

Rush Limbaugh is especially skilled in this technique;

Brage in 25: you lamented that we rejected tolerant european paganism and accepted christianity instead. I remind you that 1,000 years ago in Europe it was common for people to do human sacrifices. Villagers would go to a bog and upon getting there it would be announced who the victim would be and then everyone would jump on that person and put them into the bog until dead.

People are people regardless of what religion they say they practice. and with people you have problems. christianity teaches that people are very flawed. spiritual forces are still spiritual forces even if you seek to deny their existence.

Number 6 at 26:

Palin did not ban books as governor as you suggest. When she was mayor over 10 years ago she briefly explored the possibility of banning some books. she also threatened to fire a librarian who tried to discourage her efforts. She did not actually ban any books though.

It is true what you said that we in America have german roots. We have more german genetic roots among our people than English roots. and there was a great propaganda effort to get us to enter WW1. That whole effort was very unjust and wrong. The UK should've accepted peace in that war when Germany offerred it prior to the US entering that war. The UK did not accept peace because they believed that the US would be lured into the war.

Major wars are normally created by private parties behind the scenes that manipulate events and governments to achieve those wars. The explanations as to why those wars are fought as told in the newspapers and in the history books are frequently completely false.

I agree that the invesitiagtion headed by two guys who stand in front of an Obama for President poster may lack the moral integrity to be partial in a investigation of Palin- an opponent. Without parsing words, most people agree that they have promised the downfall of Palin, and before hearing evidence.

As for Obama, I guess you didn't get the memeo in reference to the Illinois Attorney General's investigation into Obama, for the $100,000 for a garden that was never built but the check was cashed by a company set up by the 'Obama campaign volunteer'- while he was senator of Chicago.

It's like reading something from the dark ages.

How absurd does it have to get before the US public realise that the lunatics have taken over the asylum? They have political rallies by two parties during which the crowd wave US flags, in the US. There was even a vote somewhere there where there was a dead guy on the ballot and he WON! You have McCain actually saying, with no sense of irony, that it's not right to invade countries. We have Clinton being regarded as a 'dove' when he bombed the hell out various places. He was critised for having sex but applauded for bombing a drug firm. Massive prison population, unreal gun crime, HUGE national debt, war mongering lunatics at the helm and an economy down the Swanee not to mention that this "epicentre of capitalism" is currently more socialist than anywhere in Europe AND....the "leaders" (rigged elections) believe in invisible friends and that the world was created 5000 years ago not to mention the belief in teh concept of Satan being a 'bad' thing (Satan had more morals than 'God', in the bible)........

....how ridiculous does it have to get for the average US citizen to wake up out of the propaganda induced sleep, the frontal lobotomy of nationalism that seems to have castrated them? What depth of absurdity is required?

Merely "considered the possibility".

Isn't that bad enough?

Yes, I'm sure about the entirety of what I said, not only the snipet you extracted.

Your attempt at Limbaugh-style "logic" further underscores my statements. Sounds like a Saturday Night Live skit to me. . . .very funny !
The "SOOO" lines really cracked me up !

And. . . .are you still having that annoying "BO" problem ? Do others notice ?

mike - across the pond,

ah finnking 25/09/2008 20:40:42
I was going to talk about "gun crime" but I somehow doubt you know enough about guns to conduct a balanced argument.... so I guess thats out...

so in Finnland (or wherever)... do YOU have political rallies? and they dont wave your national flag? or are you afraid that it might annoy the russians?

they didnt go after clinton for having sex... they went after clinton for LYING TO A GRAND JURY... which is a crime...

and as far as clinton bombing a drug firm... WHAT DO YOU EXPECT... he blinded the US intelligence gathering ability... its amazing it wasnt a nursery school...

as far as your 4000 (or 5000 or whatever) thing... show me... and dont bother with the Kos, or Huffington... those lack credability....

as far as dead guys on the ballot, I think you are referring to an election 6 or 8 years ago where the candidate died in a plane wreck a week or so before the election... he was the incumbent, and it was acknowleded who the governor of that state would appoint in his place. your problem there is???

Two points...

If Sarah Palin is not being influenced by Satan, demons, witches, bogeys, et cetera then why, may I ask, is she in the same political party and the Anti "Dubya" Christ?

Also if this bespectacled cow is so great at not "greasing the palms of the greedy rich", why then did the STATE of ALASKA not allow the oil giants to be put under oath at the congressional hearings so that EVERY lie they stated could be used against them in a court of law??

Anyone??
61

mike - across the pond,

kelvino 25/09/2008 20:56:39
so you consider yourself "of the intelligencia"

but you wholeheartedly ascribe to:
"LOGIC only provides the cover for a less than truthful argument"

Logic being the realm of mathematics and the hardcore sciences, whose sole purpose is "truthful arguments". your sentiment seems to give some stark insight into your education and inner belief structure...

"dont bother me with FACTS, they only get in the way of what I WANT to believe!!!"

who was it you were saying is afraid of the "well educated"?

your spin may be entertaining at the hardware store, but its more than a little confusing for those who remember what you say...

or now do you run for the cover of the personal shortcomming of not being able to easily tell the difference between a "snake oil salesman" and the "real deal"

go back... trust logic... if it fails you, dig deeper to find the factors YOU failed to consider... this process only reinforces the NEED for logic...

the subject NEVER comes up again...

12 years later this turns into a veritble witch hunt where the mayor was trying to "ban books" and fired the librarian... neither of which happened

what would be worse... THAT

or sitting in a church for 20 years where they preach "black liberation theology"
voting "present" 130 times when your JOB is to make law, vote YES... or vote NO... but GET OFF THE FENCE!!!

Which is why I don't approve of abortion, and euthanasia, testing on animals, etc. ( And, maybe why I have never liked the grandson, Senator John (Jay) Rockefeller, the democrat who, when on the intelligence committee, squealed classified information to the NYT, etc. etc. )

Anywhooo, Rockefeller or Sanger have nothing to do with the anti-Americanism which has greatly escalated in Europe, particularly in the urban areas of Germany. Poland, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, (the Iron Curtain Countries), are interestingly not yet secular, and still believe in the ideals of America.

As for whatever what lingers of Rockefeller 'superiority,' that actually goes back to the founding of the country, which is the argument of elitism vs. populism. The presidential race this year certainly illustrates the argument: Palin is a populist- and that terrifies the elites. (But it is isn't anti-Americanism.)

I’ve been reading a little more about the pipeline.

1. Construction has not begun & may never begin. As the tundra thaws from the Arctic’s rising temperatures, the pipelines we already have are becoming unstable & sinking into the new bogs.
2. What was issued was not a contract to build, but a $500 million license, which is an “incentive” to TransCanada to begin to investigate how to build the pipeline.
3. The route for the pipeline is to be determined by the Alaskan legislature. To me that sounds like the old cliche, “A camel is a horse designed by a committee.” Plus, there are Canadian objections. Canada may not approve any route.
So, TransCanada, a foreign company, gets $500 million for pretty much doing nothing.

What kind of conclusion is that. I'd say with BP and Conoco already joining forces to do the pipeline, it has a better than average chance of getting done. But that kind of conclusion doesn't fit your agenda.

As for guns, I don't own one right now, but I believe in the right to own guns. Years ago I did go to a rifle range twice a month to practice. Many of my friends are avid hunters. I realize the extent to which you loathe Sarah Palin. You have made that clear many times. It is your choice on election day to vote for whomever you like.
BUT, your opinion of one candidate over another, does not justify lies.

However, You stole your opinion from a comment at 75:

yea. right.
Liar. Liar.
Those were comments. Not facts. Not any kind of authority to state what she did.
I would hope that you read all that article and realized that she accomplished a good thing.-Something that is good for this country, and good for you in the future- but you belittled her for doing it.

When you grind an axe, try at least to have ethics and use facts. The O'Enlightened One is trying to raise society to be above sleazeball. Try it.

Mashimaro in #79:

you asked if anyone was ever compensated for the murder when under Clinton the US bombed by surprise a pharmaceutical factory in Sudan. I believe a security guard was killed in night-time raid. The owners of the factory pressed the case in a French court. The US government was allowed to provide evidence explaining why they did this. The US government did participate and try to provide this evidence. They had none. The court concluded that it was done for no reason at all. I am not sure, but I believe the US government did pay compensation on this that the french court asked for.

I think it was Kelvino who said Clinton was applauded for this. Here's his line of reasoning. Kelvino's a democrat. some democrats did speak positively about Clinton compared to Bush saying that Clinton didn't start wars the way that Bush did. Clinton started several wars without any provocation or real reason. But they were smaller conflicts not involving many ground troops. GW Bush spoke his approval on the Kosovo adventure in 1999. Why anyone thinks there's a real difference between democrats and republicans I have no idea. The differences are in image only. They both serve the mercantile clique that actually does rule America. The image differences are carefully nurtured and for public consumption.

Sarah Paspalum the master of tautology, is in fact, the Ultimate American Bimbo.
She knows all about Russia because "They're our next-door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska"?
I think the islands she's talking about are the Aleutian Islands. WOW, this woman is so clever and gifted. What a fruit cake!
Sarah the witchwoman likes to use the same word twice in a sentence, here's a few examples:
“The people of American realize that inherently all political power is inherent in the people,”
about John McCain,
“He can surpass the partisanship that must be surpassed to deal with an issue like this"
combining word repetition with another Palin verbal tic, word dropping, this about the economic meltdown:
“Well, you know, first Fannie and Freddie, different because quasi-government agencies there where government had to step in because the adverse impact all across our nation, especially with homeowners, is just too impacting.”
How can anyone take this pathetic trendoid seriously?

"I was going to talk about "gun crime"...."

---Are you seriously suggesting that Finnish gun crime is even in the same league as US gun crime? There is a gun problem here. However, FINNISH POLITICIANS DO NOT BELIEVE IN MUMBO JUMBO.

"so in Finnland (or wherever)... do YOU have political rallies? and they dont wave your national flag? or are you afraid that it might annoy the russians?"

---No, they don't. Nor do the parties in the 'uk';except for the UKIP.

"they didnt go after clinton for having sex... they went after clinton for LYING TO A GRAND JURY... which is a crime..."

---and he lied because of what?

"and as far as clinton bombing a drug firm... WHAT DO YOU EXPECT... he blinded the US intelligence gathering ability... its amazing it wasnt a nursery school..."

---Yeah, funny, what a hoot. How many thousands of kids died the following year because of lack of affordable drugs? More than died on 911.

"as far as your 4000 (or 5000 or whatever) thing... show me... and dont bother with the Kos, or Huffington... those lack credability...."

---Well, from teh article, we learn that she's at a Pentecostal kirk; a group that believes in the literal interpretation of the bible. Each day is a thousand years and god made the earth in 6 days. Now, either she's a screaming hypocrite or she believes that. Or maybe she just cherry picks?

"as far as dead guys on the ballot, I think you are referring to an election 6 or 8 years ago where the candidate died in a plane wreck a week or so before the election... he was the incumbent, and it was acknowleded who the governor of that state would appoint in his place. your problem there is???"

---that people, in full knowledge of the man's death, voted for him.
