MOBILE phone users should take precautions to protect themselves from cancer risks and should not wait for a definitive study to be published, an expert said yesterday.
Dr Ronald Herberman, of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute in the United States, said his warning was based on early, unpublished data. Children should use mobiles only in emergencies and adults should try to keep them away from their heads, he said in an internal memo to staff.

If more people heeded these cancer scares about cell phones then maybe we would not have to tolerate stupid conversations of a very personal nature from persons who have no sense of personal dignity and privacy.

I once had to endure a bus ride beside a grotesquely fat woman who described in luxurious detail the intricacies of her hysterectomy to a girlfriend and THEN went on about her sex life in VERY intimate detail with men, women, and probably animals (but they weren't mentioned, thank God!).

What a distasteful peasant with NO redeeming social values.

I almost felt like grabbing the cell phone from her and tossing it off the bus. My fellow passengers would have applauded this act of public kindness.

This has been investigated repeatedly over many years & the statistical evidence is quite clear . The evidence shows this is at least as much rubbish as the MMR scare (& moreso than belief in astrology). On the other hand the MMR scare was inconvenient for government while this scare can be used to justify ever more government regulators.

Doubtless all those "environmentalists" who witter on about "peer review" vis a vis the warming lie will be on here to denounce the use of "early unpublished data" for this scare story.

I don't know so much about Ottawa Tim, but here in Scotland tossing off on the bus is frowned upon. :o)

AS an electical engineer it seems unlikely that using a mobile phone could cause cancer. The operative word is 'unlikely'.

Charles Linskaill,

..NOT MUCH LUCK..'HUH',? 26/07/2008 00:55:55

truthsleuth ~11,

'SNAP' My Trade also!, but in the electronics line.

"unlikely", but 'Likely' dependant on which network you choose, being 'frequency' related, some are more 'Likely' to 'fry your brain' with prolonged usage.

She was not my type at all, bearing a resemblance to an overweight sow and her language and diction was off-putting.

No class or social status or background whatever.

I am not a snob but there ARE limits.
