Turnberry on road to 2009 Open
AFTER an outstanding Open at Royal Troon, golf’s oldest major could go back to Ayrshire in five years time. Turnberry will be in pole position to host the championship for the first time since 1994 in 2009 once work has started on a new link road near Alloway. The additional route is needed to solve the traffic problems which have prevented the Royal and Ancient sanctioning an earlier return to the Ailsa.
