London 2012 Olympics: A sporting legend – and it turns out he’s not a bad photographer either
Usain Bolt takes his own photos using a photographer`s camera
DOUBLE gold medallist Usain Bolt turned the tables on the media by grabbing a photographer’s camera.
Bolt, the first man to successfully defend both Olympic sprint titles following his 200m win on Thursday, borrowed a camera belonging to Jimmy Wixtröm, of Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.
He then took a series of pictures including one showing fellow Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake joking around, one of the cheering crowd and one of photographers trying to capture the moment.
Bolt, who retained his 100m crown last Sunday, led home a Jamaica one-two-three in a time of 19.32 seconds. Yohan Blake took silver in 19.44, with Warren Weir in third.
It is not the first time Bolt has borrowed Wixtröm’s camera – he pulled the same stunt after winning gold at the world championships in Daegu, South Korea, and then again during a workout in Rome.
After his 200m win, Bolt told the BBC: “This is what I wanted, and I got it. I’m very proud of myself. After a rough season, I came out here and did it. I thought the world record was possible. I guess I was fast but not fit enough.”
