Jilted man jailed for harassment

A JILTED former City worker found guilty of orchestrating a terrifying campaign of harassment against his former girlfriend and her family has been jailed indefinitely with a minimum term of six years.

Al Amin Dhalla, 42, moved in with Alison Hewitt in Brighton, months after meeting her through an elite online dating agency.

But their relationship soured after her family voiced concern over his “unseemly haste” to marry and lies about his past.

The couple split up after a year, triggering a four-month stalking campaign during which Dhalla tried to burn down the home of Ms Hewitt’s mother and stepfather and hired a private investigator to spy on her. The judge at Lewes Crown Court, said he showed a “deliberate and chilling degree of organisation and planning”.
