Woman hit by car on pavement dies

A WOMAN in Perth has died after being hit by a car that mounted the pavement.

Police said the pedestrian, thought to be in her thirties, suffered serious head injuries in the collision on Jeanfield Road.

Tayside Police said a red Toyota Corolla was seen mounting the pavement and colliding with her near the road’s junction with Cornhill Road and Burghmuir Road at 10:15am yesterday.

The force said a car matching the description of the one involved in the accident was traced elsewhere in Perth and an 81-year-old man was now helping police with inquiries.

The woman, who has not been identified, was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where it was later confirmed she had died.

Crash investigators are at the scene and the road has been closed. Police have asked any witnesses to contact them.
