Woman dies after being hit by car

A PEDESTRIAN died after being struck by a car.

The woman was hit on Thom Street, Kirkwall, in Orkney, at about 9pm on Saturday, police said.

She was taken to Balfour Hospital, where she died of her injuries, Northern Constabulary said.

The road will be closed until tomorrow afternoon to allow an investigation, police added.
