Woman, 94, killed on road is named

A 94-year-old woman who died in hospital after being hit by a car has been named by police.

Minnie Hamilton, of Harlaw Road in Balerno, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, was walking in a nearby street on Monday, 10 December, when struck by a blue Citroen C8.

She was taken for treatment to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary following the incident at 11:20am on Bavelaw Road.

Her condition deteriorated and she died two days later.

Lothian and Borders Police are now appealing for witnesses.

Constable Graham McKenzie said: “We know Bavelaw Road would have been busy at the time this collision happened and we are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area and have seen what happened to contact us.”
