UK petrol prices drop by 4p
UK petrol prices have fallen by more than 4p a litre for the second month in a row, the AA said, a reduction not seen since the price collapse of late 2008.
The AA said it believed Transport Secretary Justine Greening’s calls for fuel price transparency, after an AA campaign, might have contributed to a more rapid price fall.
However, the driving group warned fuel duty was set to rise again by 3p litre on 1 August.
June’s AA report shows that since mid-May, average prices have fallen to 133.77p.
This is on top of the 4.08p-a-litre fall the previous month and is the biggest monthly drop since the petrol price dived 5.4p a litre in late 2008.
