Three safe after capsize

A MAN and two children have been taken to hospital after their dinghy capsized in a reservoir, the fire service has said.

Emergency services were called to the incident at Threipmuir Reservoir, in Balerno, Edinburgh at around 2:30pm yesterday.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue said: “Three crews were dispatched to the scene with water rescue equipment.

“When they arrived at the reservoir, the three people were already on the shore and they were given first aid treatment.”

The 45-year-old man and the two children, a boy aged five and an eight-year-old girl, were taken to the Edinburgh Royal infirmary for further treatment for “slight hypothermia”, the spokesman said.

The two-mile long reservoir in the Pentland Hills is a popular fishing venue and was formerly used as a water supply for Edinburgh.
