Police swoop on defective buses

Nine buses that were being used to take school pupils to Blair Drummond safari park, near Stirling, were taken off the road after a police operation found serious mechanical defects on the vehicles.

The most serious defect was an emergency door that could not be secured shut. Officers also discovered braking defects, a faulty exhaust, oil leaks and a broken seat belt.
