Seven people were airlifted to hospital yesterday after a car crash on the Isle of Harris. It is believed at least two of the injured were children.

The Stornoway Coastguard search and rescue helicopter was called at 4:25pm by police after the single vehicle crash on the A859 approximately one mile north of Luskentyre.

Because of the number of injured the helicopter had to make two shuttle journeys to the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway.
