Scotland will play the United States in Florida at the end of the season, the Scottish Football Association has confirmed.

Craig Levein’s side will take on their hosts in Jacksonville on Saturday, 26 May, a week after the Scottish Cup final.

The Scots will end a training camp with a friendly against Jurgen Klinsmann’s side at EverBank Field, the home of NFL team the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Levein said: “Following the match against Slovenia in February, this provides another opportunity to get the group together ahead of the World Cup 2014 qualifiers in September.

“We will have an extended period together in May, with a training camp in the USA prior to the match on the 26th, which is very important as we prepare for the qualifiers.

“We’re all looking forward to this match, which gives us a chance to test ourselves against a nation that is emerging as one of the top sides in world football.” The countries last met in 2005 at Hampden when Andy Webster scored Scotland’s goal in a 1-1 draw. Their previous meeting in the US was a goalless draw in Washington in 1998.

Meawnhile, Scotland have remain unchanged at No 48 in the Fifa World Rankings. Spain stayed top of the pile with Germany rising one place to second at the expense of Holland. Portugal, Italy and Denmark climbed one spot each to sixth, eighth and 10th respectively, the latter pushing Argentina down to 11th position.

Zambia have climbed to 43rd after being crowned African Nations Cup champions on Sunday.

Why USA ?, Seems a long and expensive way for a friendly - especially in these cash-strapped times ??. Ooops, silly me, where's Kris Boyd playing now ?.

Nice free junket for the GFA officials. I'm sure Hearts traditional post season fine will pay for this.

If Andy Webster isn't the captain, I will organise a protest march.

Good match to set-up. Fans can have some rides on the trip, as well.
