Six Nations: Alasdair Strokosch ruled out with fractured hand

FLANKER Alasdair Strokosch could miss the rest of Scotland’s RBS Six Nations campaign with a fractured hand, the Scottish Rugby Union have announced.

Gloucester forward Strokosch suffered the injury in Scotland’s 27-13 loss to Wales at the Millennium Stadium on Sunday and was examined by his club’s medical team yesterday.

Scotland team doctor James Robson said in a statement issued by the SRU: “Recovery from such an injury takes typically between four to six weeks.”

The RBS Six Nations is due to conclude on 17 March, when Scotland are away to Italy.

Scotland were yesterday still waiting for news over wing Max Evans, who was forced off with an ankle injury and left Cardiff on crutches and wearing an immobilising boot.

Robson added: “Max will be seen by the specialist ankle surgeon John McKinley at Spire Murrayfield Hospital and we will await a further update later this week.”

Back-row forward David Denton, who has a foot injury, and prop Ed Kalman, who is suffering with neck pain, will both be monitored in the build-up to Scotland’s next match against France at Murrayfield on 26 February.

Shame for Stroker but his performances have been merely OK when those around him have been stellar. I would bring in the ginger ninja, Robinson will probably start Barclay - which might be OK if he starts him at 8 and Denton at 6. Would still prefer 6. Harley, 7. Rennie, 8. Denton.
