Scott earns captaincy of under 20s
FERGUS Scott is following the example set by his elder brother Matt after adding to a series of steps in the game yesterday by being named Scotland Under-20 captain for the final pool match in the IRB Junior World Championships.
After Matt rose from club to pro team and a full Scotland camp inside six months to become Scotland’s first-choice inside centre, Fergus, a hooker, has followed the signing of a first professional contract with Glasgow Warriors last month with the under-20 captaincy against Argentina at the University of the Western Cape this afternoon (kick-off 1.45pm UK time).
Despite the team having an outside chance of making the fifth to eighth place play-offs, coach Peter Wright has made nine changes to the side that lost 30-29 to France on Friday.
Jamie Bhatti, of Stirling County, and Dundee’s Gavin Robertson join Scott in a new front row, while Boroughmuir centre Keith Buchan makes his first start and previous skipper Harry Leonard drops to the bench, with Tommy Allan, of Western Province, being given a run at stand-off.
