Goode kicks Saracens to victory

ALEX Goode scored 17 points for Saracens at Adams Park to inflict a seventh successive defeat on Wasps in the Aviva Premiership, slotting five penalties to secure a 22-17 victory.

The win puts Saracens three points behind leaders Harlequins, while Wasps hold a nine-point gap over bottom club Newcastle.

Billy Vunipola and Tom Lindsay crossed for Wasps in the first 22 minutes. Then Vunipola touched down, with Nicky Robinson converting. Sarries responded immediately, with two penalties by Goode and scored again when James Short sprinted from the halfway line for a score that Goode converted.

Wasps struck back as Lindsay touched down and Robinson added the extras, but Goode’s third penalty gave Saracens a 16-14 half-time lead, which he extended with another kick three minutes into the second period. Robinson cut Sarries’ advantage back to two points with a 68th-minute penalty but Goode’s fifth penalty made the result safe.
