Aberdeen Grammar 13 - 28 Dundee High: Dundee on a high after victory
DUNDEE High underlined their claim to be Premier A champions with a comprehensive try-bonus win at the expense of derby rivals Aberdeen Grammar.
Aberdeen had no answer to the big, mobile Mayfield outfit who will surely relish the (probable) heavy going in the closing weeks of the campaign.
Head coach Ian Rankine would not be drawn on his side’s title prospects, but was delighted with the team performance, describing it as the ‘’best of the season’’.
Two tries from replacement back rower Richie McIver capped a fine day for the versatile visiting pack who ran the show from start to finish. Indeed had the normally reliable stand-off Cam Brown brought his kicking boots with him, the match would have been over as a contest after an hour.
Brown missed six kicks at goal but still managed to set up tries for Harry Duthie and Andy McLean.
Aberdeen did, however, manage to score two touchdowns of their own, despite the overwhelming posession enjoyed by the men from Tayside.
Alex Duncan, the Grammar head coach, conceded afterwards: ‘’It was a flat performance from us.’’
