Robert Heatly steps down for family reasons

SCOTTISH Hockey announced yesterday that chief executive Robert Heatly has tendered his resignation on personal grounds.

Heatly, who joined Scottish Hockey in June 2011 having served for almost 30 years as an officer in the Royal Marines, said last night that he was putting his family first as the organisation prepares to head west from Edinburgh.

“I have tendered my resignation based purely on personal grounds,” Heatly said. “The implications of the organisation’s impending move to Glasgow have become finely focused for me. I have family and domestic commitments that do not afford me the flexibility and time to undertake a considerable daily commute from Edinburgh to Glasgow and back in addition to my duties as chief executive.

Denis Robertson-Sullivan, chairman of the Scottish Hockey Board said: “I am sorry to see Robert go but fully understand why he has made this decision now. It has been a difficult decision for him. I am grateful for the loyalty and hard work he has demonstrated.”
