Racing: Musselburgh set for Overturn
Lingfield
One of the highest rated National Hunt runners ever to race at Musselburgh looks set to pull in the crowds at Sunday’s John Smith’s Scottish Cheltenham Trials meeting.
Donald McCain is sending Overturn north to compete in the Scottish Future Champions Novices’ Chase, which also features entries from yards including Malcolm Jefferson, Nicky Henderson and Paul Nicholls.
Overturn is a 13-time winner over flat and jumps and with career prize money just short of £700,000, comes to Musselburgh following two wins out of two over fences. An impressive pedigree includes a second in last season’s Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham and wins on the flat in the Northumberland Plate and Chester Cup.
Musselburgh general manager Bill Farnsworth said: “There is no doubting the quality of this card, which features runners from all the top jumping yards in the country.”
Overturn can expect a challenge from Malcolm Jefferson’s Attaglance, a winner at last year’s Cheltenham Festival. Attaglance went on to do the double at the Grand National meeting at Aintree and the same jockey, Harry Haines, is booked to race on Sunday. Scotland’s Lucinda Russell is pinning her hopes on Tap Night, who made a winning debut at Ayr in the New Year.
