Miami Gator snaps up victory at Hamilton
MIAMI Gator, trained by Elaine Burke and ridden by Irish rookie Conor Harrison, sprung a 25/1 upset in the McGhee’s Teaz Handicap at Hamilton Park.
The Yorkshire raider, landing a tenth career strike on his 40th start, made all to see off recent Ayr winner Ginger Jack by half a length. And he could bid for another success in next week’s Carlisle Bell.
Harrison, paying his first visit to the Lanarkshire track, said: “Mrs Burke’s husband, Karl, told me to ride the race the way I found it and we were worried about the quick ground when we walked the track before racing.
“This is a game old horse and when he gets into a rhythm he’s very hard to catch.”
Mrs Burke initiated a double when Phillip Makin drove Rosselli to victory in the Follow @Hamiltonparkrc On Twitter Median Auction Maiden Stakes.
Jason Hart-ridden Barnston Ash, a well-backed 6/4 favourite and trained near Preston by Eric Alston, stayed on strongly to land the Sam Collingwood-Cameron Handicap by a length and three-quarters from Sovereign Street.
