Lemoncello suffers injury setback
ATHLETICS: Andrew Lemoncello admits he will have to go back to the drawing board after being forced to drop out of his comeback marathon in California at the weekend.
The Scot, who missed the Olympics and most of 2012 with injury, suffered a recurrence of his long-standing hamstring problem and pulled out shortly after the half-way point. And he is now set for another bout of treatment in a bid to get his career back on track.
He said: “My hamstring tendon went again. I stopped at 24 kilometres to prevent any further damage. It looks like another injection is on the cards.”
Meanwhile, Steph Twell made a surprise comeback in an international race in Switzerland. The Commonwealth medallist finished ninth in the Course de L’Escalade event in Geneva in 16.06 in a race won by Kenya’s Muia Jane in 15.34.
