Glasgow Rocks deliver sixth consecutive victory
GLASGOW Rocks coach Sterling Davis believes his team is finally reaching its potential after sixth consecutive win in the British Basketball League last night.
Donald Robinson hit 24 points as his side grabbed a share of third place in the table with a 94-84 defeat of Plymouth Raiders at the Emirates Arena.
Glasgow had to fight off late resistance from the visitors when, after trailing 62-47 in the third quarter, Plymouth – paced by a game-high 30 points from Mike Ojo – rallied to close the gap to five with six minutes left. However, Andy Wedemire sparked a decisive late 8-1 run that ultimately proved decisive.
“I don’t want to speak too soon but we are definitely going in the right direction,” said Davis, who completed his own tally of 20 with a late dunk. “Every win’s been different but, as long as we come out on top at the end, we can look at improving and rectifying any mistakes. But I was really pleased with our defence. It was excellent and that’s starting to be very consistent.”
