Edinburgh woman in GB basketball squad

THE British Olympic Association has confirmed the 12 players that will represent Team GB in women’s basketball at the Olympic Games. And it includes Edinburgh-born guard Rose Anderson, along with the rest of the squad that defeated 2010 world championship finalists, the Czech Republic, in midweek.

London is the first time Britain’s women have ever competed in the Olympics but they will go in with high hopes after defeating the Czechs and Argentina in recent weeks, following last year’s trip into the second round of the EuroBasket finals. “Being selected in the final 12 is a very proud moment for me and is something I will cherish forever,” GB captain Jo Leedham said. “For us as a team it is unbelievable. We have come so far in recent years.”
