Cricket: Euan Sheridan waiting for his chance at Poloc

EUAN Sheridan had been looking forward to kick-starting his career with Poloc after moving from Glasgow Accies, but as
August looms, the all-rounder feels he has yet to establish himself with the Shawholm outfit.

And today he hopes to make his mark when they square up to Stenhousemuir at The Tryst.

Sheridan said: “I could not have picked a worse summer to join a new team. Thanks to the weather, I have only been able to make three weekend appearances since the start of the campaign, along with a handful of midweek cup games. The Stenhousemuir match will be our first in six weeks.”

Elsewhere in the First Division West, there will be late pitch inspections at East Kilbride, Ferguslie and Weirs, where Renfrew, Kelburne and Prestwick are the respective visitors.

In the East section, Fauldhouse fear there is little prospect of their encounter with Falkland going ahead.

It could be a similar sorry story at Penicuik, Edinburgh Accies and West Lothian, who are due to take on Corstorphine, Freuchie and SMRH.

Meanwhile, Zeeshan Bashir believes Clydesdale can turn back the clock by reclaiming the Scottish Cup. The young skipper leads his side into battle against Premiership champions Carlton in tomorrow’s quarter-final at Titwood, and he says: “We have quite a few new lads in the first-team squad at the moment and we have now qualified for two semi-finals in other competitions and the last eight of the Scottish Cup. These achievements have resulted in a high level of confidence.”

First Division rivals Kelburne and Stenhousemuir clash at Whitehaugh, while fellow minnows Renfrew will be at home to Watsonians. Heriot’s make the tricky jaunt to East Kilbride.
