Stewart is playing for big money

Duncan Stewart is in the thick of a three-way battle to finish the season at the top of the PGA EuroPro Tour money-list.

Grantown-on-Spey’s Stewart, the only two-times winner on the third-tier circuit this year, is in third place heading into today’s final round of the 888poker.com Tour Championship at Woburn.

He followed up his opening-day 71 with a four-under 68 for a five-under-par total of 139, five shots behind Paul Maddy after the Englishman stayed at the head of affairs following a 65.

Stewart came into the event lying second on the money list, trailing the leader, Welshman Stuart Manley, by just over £1,000, with Maddy around £10,000 behind the Scot in third place.

With a £15,000 first prize up for grabs today, Maddy could leapfrog both the players above him.

Like Stewart, Manley is also in contention to sign off the season with a half-decent cheque as he’s lying in a tie for eighth.

Among those alongside him on one-under are Comrie’s Wallace Booth and Elliot Saltman of Archerfield Links.

Lying fifth and sixth respectively on the money-list – the top five earn cards on the Challenge Tour next season – they are also set for an exciting last-day shoot-out.
