Stevenson snatches David Blair Trophy

NORTH OF SCOTLAND OPEN: With a pair of four-under-par 67s, Gordon Stevenson won the North of Scotland Open amateur stroke-play championship for the David Blair Trophy at Tain Golf Club, Ross-shire yesterday.

The Whitecraigs GC player was five shots behind halfway leader Conor O’Neil (Pollok) after two rounds of 70 on Saturday to O’Neil’s 71 and 64. Stevenson’s third-round 67 left him still five shots off, but the last round was decisive.

Stevenson finished on 10-under-par 274, O’Neil on 276. Adam Dunton (McDonald Ellon) (74-68 for 277) and Sam Binning (Ranfurly Castle) (69-67) shared third place on 277.
