Scott Stallings shoots second 64 but lead is cut back

Scott Stallings remains one shot clear of the rest of the field at 20 under after finishing off the third round at the True South Classic.

The 27-year-old began the day four strokes clear after play was suspended due to darkness on Saturday with the leader having played ten holes of his third round, and although he registered his second consecutive 64 yesterday, an eagle from Billy Horschel at the 18th narrowed the gap at the top.

Beginning the day on the 11th, Stallings made a solid start, registering six consecutive pars and the man from Massachusetts ended strongly as he birdied both the 17th and 18th.

Second-placed Horschel lost his card after the 2011 season but can get it back with a win and is two shots clear of fellow American Jason Bohn, while Jason Gore is one stroke further back at 16 under par.

Scotland’s Russell Knox was 13 shots behind Stallings after the third round. after following up rounds of 67 and 71 with another 71.
