Robertson sole Scot in GB & Ireland side

DESPITE winning the Home Internationals in Ayrshire last week, Scotland will provide just one representative in the Great Britain & Ireland team to face the Continent of Europe in the St Andrews Trophy at Portmarnock at the end of the month.

Glenbervie’s Graeme Robertson, who picked up six points out of six at Glasgow Gailes, will be the sole Scottish representative for the 29th staging of the biennial match, while Blairgowrie’s Bradley Neil will also be flying the saltire on his own in the boys’ equivalent, the Jacques Leglise Trophy, at the same venue.

Irishman Alan Dunbar, the Amateur champion, spearheads the St Andrews Trophy team, which also includes Welshman Rhys Push, another member of last year’s winning Walker Cup side at Royal Aberdeen. Both events take place on 31 August and 1 September.
