Pamela Pretswell earns Tour card with Access Series success

CURTIS Cup winner Pamela Pretswell has secured her card for the Ladies European Tour next season after topping the circuit’s developmental Access Series order of merit.

The Bothwell Castle player claimed the No 1 spot despite missing the final event, the Banesto Valencia at Escorpion Golf Club, due to illness.

Stepping up to the main circuit along with the Scot are France’s Marion Ricordeau and Norway’s Cecilie Lundgreen after they secured the two other cards up for grabs.

The event in Valencia was won by Holly Clyburn, another member of the triumphant Great Britain & Ireland team in the Curtis Cup at Nairn earler this year. “I cannot believe that I have won – I am thrilled,” said the English player after beating Spain’s Carmen Alonso in a
play-off to taste success in just her second professional event.

Clyburn had been four ahead of Alonso at the start of the final round but only got into the play-off after picking up a birdie at the last. “This victory means a lot to me and to my family,” she added.

Meanwhile, Catriona Matthew was ten shots off the lead at the end of day three in the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Mexico. The defending champion recovered from an average first two days to go round the course in Guadalajara in four under.

A round of 66 saw Park Inbee open up a two-shot lead. The South Korean carded six birdies in a flawless display to move to 15 under for the tournament.
