McKechnie equals record to earn win

PRO-AM: Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills) equalled Craig Ronald’s seven-year-old professional course record with a seven-under-par 63 to win the top prize of £1,346 in yesterday’s Sandyhills pro-am.

McKechnie had a bogey-free round studded with birdies at the first, fourth, ninth, 10th, 11th, 12th and 16th.

He won by two shots from joint runners-up Chris Kelly (Cawder) and Ed Wood (Crow Wood) who each earned £942.

David Orr (Mearns Castle) steered the New City Palace trio of Peter Simm (handicap 13), Simon Tsang (18) and Mark 
Sang (18) to victory in the team event with a net score of 15-under-par 55.
