Lindberg putts herself to the lead

LPGA TOUR: Sweden’s Pernilla Lindberg fired a seven-under-par 65 late on Thursday to find herself two shots clear after the first round of the LPGA Tour Jamie Farr Toledo Classic in Sylvania, Ohio.

The 26-year-old carded eight birdies and one bogey at Highland Meadows Golf Club and heads into the second round two strokes clear of Numa Gulyanamitta, Karine Icher, Chella Choi, Angela Stanford, Mika Miyazato and Meredith Duncan.

“I had a great day on the greens,” said Lindberg, who needed only needed 27 putts in her opening round. “It was really my putting that was the key today.”
