Larrazabal is early leader

Pablo Larrazabal overcame a lengthy rain delay to shoot an eight-under 64 to take the clubhouse lead in the opening round of the European Tour’s Austrian Open at Atzenbrugg, near Vienna yesterday. The Spaniard hit four birdies and an eagle to sit at six under par after 12 holes when play was suspended for 3 hours, 40 minutes. He then added two more birdies after play resumed at 3.20pm local time.

Rikard Karlberg, of Sweden, shot a 69, which was the next lowest round.

Former top-ranked tennis player Yevgeny Kafelnikov,
appearing in his second European Tour event after the 2008 Russian Open, shot a 75.
