Hunter pro–am raises £24,500
scottish golf: A pro-am launched in memory of Adam Hunter has raised £24,500 for the “Friends of the Beatson” charity in its first year.
The event, held at Gleneagles in October, was a sell-out, with 25 teams competing, and has proved such a success that plans are in place to host it again in both 2013 and 2014.
“I have to say a huge thank-you to everyone who contributed on the day,” said Stephen McAllister, who organised the event along with fellow pro Alan Tait, SPGA secretary Michael MacDougall and broadcaster Brian Donald.
“It was a real team effort which provided a fitting tribute to a brilliant golfer and friend. The bonus was raising so much money for such a terrific cause.”
